Restaurant Reviews

Perugino's Italian Resturanti

Hugo and his son Eric have brought together old world recipes and new world technique.

In a absolutely beautifully restored old early 1900s house in the middle of Winder, Georgia of all places, Hugo has brought together the tradition of old southern Italian cooking learned from many years of studying under a first generation Chief from Naples Italy along with his son Eric a graduate of The Cordon Blue, who brings a new world approach to their offerings in a quiet romantic atmosphere.

Hugo’s love for cooking and presentation surpasses anything ever offered in the Winder area, and probably will for a long time to come.

After a six coarse meal consisting of Anti pasta, Brochette, ensalada, Pasta the on tray, wine and desert,

I give Perugino’s a FIVE STAR RATING.

I feel Hugo truly cook with love.

Perugino’s is located at 41 W. Candler Street Winder, GA

The Twisted Oak

Nancy King and Chief Justen Ashcraft have come together to offer a unique dining experience in downtown Monroe, Georgia.

In one of the original old buildings in the middle of town Nancy has created a wonderful place to dine. With a more formal dining area on the first floor, where Nancy and Justen can show off their special recepies and great presentations. And a second floor with a bar that offers a more casual atmosphere for socializing and dining.

After a four course meal consisting of Soft shell crab, salad, Steak, Wine and desert.

I gave The Twisted Oak a FOUR STAR RATING

I feel The Twisted Oak is a real feather in Monroe’s cap.

The Twisted Oak is located at 116 N. Broad St. Monroe, Ga

Luna’s Restaurant

In my Opinion

Once again I set out on one of many dining adventures following up on one of the many recommendations I receive to find the best food in the world.

Off I go to Gainesville, Georgia Where I found a great romantically lit restaurant. I was cordially received at Luna’s Restaurant by co-owner Frankie Luna.

Frankie joined us at our table and told us the history behind Luna’s Restaurant, mostly how she met her husband Juan Luna. I was surprised that Frankie had very little knowledge about their food they served. After hearing about they’re Chief and the menu offered, I asked as I often due, if the chief would surprise me with something special. For the first time in asking this of a chief, I was astonished and insulted by his response. In all my travels all over the world presenting this friendly challenge to countless chiefs I’ve never before had a chief respond by asking, HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT TO SPEND.

I quickly realized that this restaurant’s focus was not the joy of cooking. Their focus was on the money that they would make.

I give Luna’s Restaurant a ONE STAR RATING

I feel a restaurateur’s first interest should always be the joy of cooking, and the money will most certainly follow. Luna’s has a great atmosphere with a very nice lounge.

Luna’s is located at 200 Main St. Gainesville, Ga

The Spitfire Deli

  In my Opinion

If you like airplanes and good food here’s a great place to go for lunch. Celia is the boss, she and her husband run one of the cleanest and nicest places to eat in Winder and have a great menu. If asked, will from time to time make traditional English food, Kidney pie, Bread pudding you get the idea, being that they are both from England.

Go to their web site for menu and other info http://www.spitfiredeli.com/

I give the Spitfire Deli a FOUR STAR RATING

The Spitfire Deli is located at the Winder Airport 841 Ronald Wood Rd. Winder, Ga
